Error - 'Unable to submit your VAT Return to HMRC. An internal server error occurred.'

Updated this week

When you try to submit your VAT return via Access Digital Tax, occasionally an issue on HMRCs side will cause an error message like this one to display in Access Digital Tax.

Please bear in mind, you can quickly identify if the error is being driven from Access or HMRC by looking for the HMRC Crown symbol. If this is present in the error message this will indicate it is an issue with HMRC. Please contact HMRC to resolve the issue as it is an internal server error on their side.

Please find below some useful links that HMRC update regularly on the status of their service;
